It’s a long shot, I know, but I think about you every time I go by the place we met and really hope that you see, read and respond to this..
You were standing on the sidewalk outside the Route 101 Bar on Van Ness Avenue with Tiny (Toby?) and a few of his friends including my friend Jim. I was on my way home or somewhere else and stopped briefly to say, “Hello!”. Without a word, you stood beside me and slipped your arm around my waist. When you did, it felt so natural that I did the same. We had never met before, as far as I can recall. I don’t think we even looked at each other, it just felt so right!
The chat was friendly, warm and humorous but it did not go on nearly long enough. We said our ‘good-byes’ and ‘see you laters’ but I have never seen you there since. The shoulda, woulda coulda demons keep prodding me with their tiny pitchforks saying, “Ya shoulda kissed her!”, “Ya woulda liked her!” “Ya shoulda taken her home!”. So here I am, years later, wondering what would happen if I saw you again today and wishing it to occur. It would be so sweet just to feel you lean up against me again. What a comfort to my soul!
You: Slim, Petite, Cute, Short Blonde Hair, Jeans (Sorry, that’s all I can clearly remember.)
Me: Tall, Kinda Lanky, Bearded, Jeans, Leather jacket, Tweed Cap (I think…)
I still pop in to the 101 occasionally to hang with Jim when he watches football there. Do you?
Let me buy you a drink and we’ll toast to second chances!
